Loyalty, a word that in lots of hearts rings with warmth and great value. A quality that can be found in people that invokes endearment and appreciation from those who are the recipient of it’s expressions. A quality that is “part and parcel” to true friendship. In reality, I’d claim that without it, true friendship is lost. For how can true friendship stand if there is no trust or reliability, and loyalty is the very basis of trust. There can be love in a relationship without loyalty being expressed by all partners, but there can not be a love relationship. Meaning this, that in relationships it is often sadly factual that love (which is expressed in loyalty) will not go both ways. For love to be a mutually reciprocating thing then loyalty much be found practiced by all.
Loyalty is based on a very common dictionary as “feelings of allegiance”. But does loyalty only go so far as feelings? Do feelings of allegiance alone constitute loyalty? I believe not. Yes, I would think that most of us would claim that loyalty has feelings of allegiance, but with out actions that spring forth from allegiance shouldn’t it be stated that the emotions are incredibly shallow? So we discover that loyalty is always to stand in allegiance to another both in feeling and action. But, what is the highest type of loyalty? I would personally say it is far from only to stand by another, but to face by these to the conclusion that truth might prevail. A good example of the negative side of here is the many who were very faithful to Hitler’s Germany, but in the end who would say their loyalty was actually a good or even a profitable thing? In like manner, each of our loyalties at life’s end will likely be judged as to if these people were in accordance with the truth or not. Sad to say I am just afraid that this loyalties of many will not be found for the praise of Christ.
Undoubtedly loyalty as been exemplified in men’s lives since the start of creation. Having Said That I hold there just has ever been one man who may have perfectly exemplified loyalty, and that is certainly Jesus the Righteous. How did He prove this? What actions of His life are recorded that bare the witness that His life alone perfectly exemplifies a life of the purest loyalties?
Firstly, He was faithful to His Father, who had been one that commissioned (sent) Him into the world. He ever obeyed the term (commandment) of His Father. This can be noticed in he humbled Himself setting aside His deity, to then be located in the fashion of the man who came in to the world being a baby born of a virgin woman to live among a poor and oppressed people. He grew choosing the method of His Father, to have out His earthly ministry, to become delivered to a spot of rejection and betrayal by all men. Then to become condemned to a humiliating trial, brutalization, and death, as well as this was at the command of His father. In order that He could be become the savior that was necessary to express the passion for God to a lost creation, offering the salvation that men needed. Oh, how I am thankful which he was loyal, towards the very bitter end of His natural life.
Secondly, He (Christ) was (and that i believe is, and definately will ever be) loyal to Their own word and oath. We percieve this first in this He kept His oath towards the Father because He completely played the part of becoming savior to all men. This really is noticed in Psalms 40: 6-8, (KJV) “Sacrifice and offering thou didst not desire; mine ears hast thou opened: burnt offering and sin offering hast thou not required. Then said I, Lo, I come; inside the volume of the ebook it is written of me, I delight to do thy will O my God; yea, thy law is within my heart.” Christ’s loyalty to His Father, obeying Him to begin death is also established from the testimony in the writer of Hebrews 12:2b (KJV), “who for the joy set before him endured the cross, despising the shame,…..” Then He rose through the dead because he said He would. He sent the baptism of the Holy Spirit because he said He would. He gave gifts unto men (the ascension offices from the New Testament Church) because he said He would. He’s alive in Heaven making intercession for many Believers while he should certainly be. He can come again to obtain Their own unto Himself, and during those times to judge both righteous as well as the wicked, even as He stated He would. He is loyal to His word, and then in so doing He is loyal to all men.
Thirdly, Christ was and it is faithful to His brethren. This earth is encapsulated in the foremost and second loyalties of Christ’s heart. In that He or she is loyal to the Father and to Himself, He can not but help to be faithful to His brothers and sisters yet in the world. How can this be proven? I would personally say it is quite easily proven because They have never lied to, or abandoned His very own. I actually do not think that there exists one that can honestly claim that Christ has never kept His word to His very own. I think that all the promises of God (Christ) work with us, whenever we work them correctly.
There is just one way. It is found in being in Christ, then in putting on Christ. Through the operation of faith receiving Him because the savior and sovereign of one’s life. By the regeneration in the Holy Spirit, which creates inside the Believer a brand new inner man. The one that is not fashioned following this world as well as its ways, but is fashioned after the One who calls us from above. Beyond these, the actions of loyalty are learned through the renewing in our minds, where we figure out how to fashion our habits following the habits of Jesus. For the extent we will do this, we will be shown to be loyal, first for the Lord, then to men around us, based on the various relationships that we experience with this mortal life. Within this facts are the realization in the failure of our own nation’s people as expressed in the way we have rejected God inside our schools, within our churches, inside our government and institutions. For in so doing we are more and more transforming into a people where our citizens lack passion for their neighbors. This produces a self serving people, a people who have fewer samples of true and noble loyalty. That is why we tyjanm a divorce rate of nearly 70%, why we have murdered nearly 40 million babies through “legalized” abortion, why most any where in the united states one can open a mobile phone book turning to the Online Directory and locate page after page of attorneys being listed. And why is this so? It is because we are a nation loaded with litigation. Neighbor suing neighbor in courts of law. The truest form of loyalty could only will likely be found where Christ is received as the middle of men’s lives.
I would repeat the greatest enemy of loyalty to God and our neighbor is self-centeredness. Self is the greatest enemy the Christian has. It is a far greater enemy then Satan. Loyalty, whether to God, or to one’s neighbor is impossible until one learns to deny self. Beyond self there are other negative character qualities that are counter-productive to loyalty. Unbelief is just one of these. How can one be faithful to either God or man when the first is not able to believe? Confusion and ignorance is yet another. Being unable to conduct one’s self with a clear understanding will affect one’s ability to perform in a loyal manner. This is the reason God has due to the Christian the mind of Christ, that by operating within his mind we could possibly conduct ourselves with clear and sound thought
